On a very chilly & blustery day in early October we had the pleasure of photographing Myriam & Justin's classic and contemporary wedding which was held at St Mary de Haura Church in Shoreham and then on to celebrate at the stunning location, Buxted Park Hotel.
St Mary's in Shoreham is a beautiful church which made for some fantastic ceremony shots. Surprisingly we get to photograph in Churches less and less as the trend for getting hitched in any where but a church stays ever popular so it was lovely to get a chance to work at St Mary's & get some of those more traditional ceremony shots.
Myriam looked nothing short of amazing in a very unusual and beautiful floor length ivory gown. It had a pretty cap sleeve appliqué floral, semi sheer top which sat neatly at her tiny waist and then a stylish & chic floor length simple skirt with seam detailing. The back of the gown had a small criss cross tie which was a nod to the more traditional bridal dresses. It was very French which completely worked as Myriam is from a French family!
Myriam's Bridesmaids wore navy blue cocktail length dresses with pretty floral cutwork and cut out backs. The Groom wore a smart dark navy suit with an ivory tie and Rose button hole. The hand tied bouquets were a mixture of ivory and pale pink Roses and meadow flowers.
Soon the ceremony was underway and went without a hitch with some lovely readings from Friends and Family. Myriam and Justin walked back up the aisle beaming as Mr & Mrs and we managed to get some shots of them outside the church before the heavens opened and we all had to reluctantly return indoors. We got a few natural shots of the couple greeting their family and friends and then some of just the couple by the alter before all heading off to Buxted Park to start the celebrations.
The couple had gone for a classic & contemporary theme with the decoration of Buxted. In the wedding breakfast room they had decorated the tables with gorgeous floral centre pieces of various teapots and jugs of meadow flowers stood on stacks of old books. There were lots of personal details like wooden hearts scattered on the tables, a really pretty birdcage seating plan and lots of floral displays around both real and dried. Buxted always looks great when decorated for a wedding but at this wedding the simple styling really worked.
The guests began to arrive from the church and were greeted by delicious looking canapés and plenty of champagne! We made the most of the spacious Orangery at the venue that has fantastic light to get lots of natural shots of family and friends enjoying the surroundings and congratulating the newly weds. A (slight!) break in the weather meant we could whisk Myriam & Justin outside for some private shots & then (with a bit of cunning organisation & lots of umbrellas!) we asked the guests to come out in groups for the formal shots under the pillars at Buxted which meant that the couple got some memorable family and friends shots that looked like they were outside even though it was windy and wet! We even managed an outside whole group shot, even though we got a bit soggy taking it, the Guests didnt!
Later the wedding progressed into seating for the wedding breakfast and then some fantastic speeches with the staff at Buxted taking part too - with lots of laughs!
As the day drew to a close the evening guests arrived and the couple took to the dance floor for their first dance closely followed by their friends and family who certainly weren't dance floor shy!
We made the most of the lovely indoor features at Buxted to get some moody shots of the Bride & Groom too showing that wet weather on the day of your wedding needn't ruin your photos! You can't control the weather so don't fret about it and we can work with you to get some great shots.
We had a great day with Myriam & Justin and wish them a future of fun & happiness.
All the best
